Below is a paper from Gaines M. Crook's [my father] files entitled Perception Of Beings In "Abduction" Scenarios And Their Relation To "Reality"
In it he proposes that the "intelligence" behind reported "abductions" is immoral or amoral in regards to how it views humanity.
This paper was written originally on 12-23-92 and updated on 5-22-01. I have made slight modifications to formatting.
N.B. I am neither a "believer" nor a "skeptic" in regards to this subject. I do not have an agenda other than to present the alternate views which my father held on various topics past and present in the field of studying UFO phenomena. The opinion presented in the paper below are those of my late father, Gaines M. Crook, . He died last year three months short of his 90th birthday.
My commentary is noted by a letter in bold for example [A] in the paper and is presented at the end of the paper. The commentary does reflect in part some of my opinions or my understanding of the subject matter.

The common illusion is prevalent in the UFO community that the "UFOnauts" are skinny little man shaped beings about 3 1/2 to 4 feet tall with big eyes and diminutive ears nose and mouth, if any. This opinion has been supported mainly by reports of people who claim to have been abducted. "Abductees" have described these episodes in great detail and many have described the same types of beings doing the same types of procedures time and time again.
The entities exercise complete and absolute control of the abductee during the episode and there once was almost no record of opposition of any type., however this has been changed in recent times as reported by Ann Druffell (see Druffell, 2001). It is commonly believed[A] that these entities are the natives of other planets and that they are doing genetic experiments upon the abductees. These impressions are based upon the most naive anthropomorphic view that all that is in the universe must be patterned after what would come natural for a man to think.
All of mankind's ideas about any dwellers of the universe are based upon this misguided notion. Even the "SETI" is based upon the anthropomorphic idea[B] that if there are other races inhabiting the universe that they will follow the identical pattern that mankind has followed in his development and go through the same developmental stages, develop the same technology, means of flight, weapons, means of communications, etc. and finally come to the point where it is possible for them to travel between planets in vehicles powered by reaction propulsion. My contention is that if there are other dwellers in the universe they will not be like mankind and in fact they can not be like mankind.
I am reminded if the comments of Frank Salisbury (Salisbury 1980) on the meager possibility that there are human like intelligent beings elsewhere in the universe.[C] In his analysis, Dr. Salisbury uses conventional scientific reasoning, both astronomical and genetic, to arrive at the conclusion that there are no other human-like living entities in the universe which evolved separately from mankind. This is pertinent to the discussion at hand not only from the point of view of what kind of entity/entities may be present in the universe but in looking at the possibilities of the cross referencing of human technology to alien technology.
In the process of his reasoning, Dr. Salisbury says that the number of different combinations of letters and punctuation in Shakespeare's well known phrase "This above all: to thine ownself be true!" is the same as the number of combinations in the genes and chromosomes that go to make up the pattern of human beings. He then mentally built a little computer one liter in volume and let it rearrange the letters in a sentence one trillion times per second. One computer was not getting anywhere so he made enough computers to cover the Earth to a depth of 2 kilometers and each computer was arranged to produce unique combinations produced by no other computer.
This still was not fast enough so he covered all the planets in the universe (1020 planets) two kilometers deep and let them run for four billion years. Once, somewhere in the universe, some computer wrote: "This above all: to thine own self be true". To those of you who are irrevocably convinced that this could not be true because little men like things are kidnapping humans, the assumption that they are the denizens of another planet is not the only viable explanation.
But are we looking at the abduction situation in a truly realistic manner? The most astounding thing about the whole abduction matter is that both the abductee and the investigator ignore the modus operandi of the physically impossible factors[D] described in the episode and they are sometimes not even mentioned in the reports.
I am speaking of the impossible things like being levitated into a UFO by means of a light beam, travelling through closed windows and solid walls, telepathic communication, the "turn off" of people who are present but whom are not involved in the proceedings, so-called mind scans, the appearance and disappearance of objects from the abductee's home, poltergeist like activity in the house including violent shaking of the whole house as in an earthquake and the tracking of an individual so that no matter where he or she is they can be found and the bizarre procedure repeated.
How can these items be so cavalierly ignored? It is time to back up and take another look. In chapter 8 of his book, "Secret Life", David M. Jacobs describes the abductor beings in great detail. He says there are primarily two types of "male" and one type of "female" being. The beings are described as in the same shape as man but with no evidence of some of the characteristics which are necessary for us, such as a bony structure, a breathing apparatus, a mouth that allows for eating and drinking and openings to discharge liquid and solid bodily wastes.
No food or water or a bed or other place to sleep has ever been seen during an abduction, giving us the impression that these functions are not necessary for the beings. There seems to be no cultural clues that would lead us to believe that the beings live in a culture with other like beings. The only concerns appear to be the particular occupations which characterize the abduction.
This brings to mind "the trickster"[E] which has appeared in cultures the world over for time immemorial. The trickster is a being who can make people believe that things are what they appear to be instead of what they really are. In American Indian cultures The Trickster is often depicted as a coyote which does all sorts of confusing and often vicious things to the heroes of Native American stories. In Bulfinch's "Mythology", Utgard-Loki tricked Thor into a drinking contest in which Thor tries to drink the whole ocean instead of what was in his cup. Now we know that that was not a literal occurrence but there must have been some sort of real occurrences upon which the myth was based.
Could it be that the abductees are undergoing the most fantastic trickery that The Trickster has ever served up? Think about it. Whatever is the driving force behind the abduction phenomena is a very very powerful intelligence with a mass of deceptive tricks at Its disposal. The prime reason for our failure to make any progress in discovering anything about the UFO phenomena has been that in attempts to study it, it has been treated as if it were a natural phenomena and scientific techniques have been applied accordingly in the attempt to extract its secrets, when all along it should have been treated as an intelligence quarry spouting misinformation. Whatever it does, it covers its real intent, nature and modus operandi and leaves us guessing at the nature of its identity. We have made human, anthropomorphic assumptions where they do not apply.
Despite all of the glamour associated with the idea of "man-shaped" aliens, is it not just as easy for the scenario to be implanted in the minds of the percipient as is indicated in some of the stories described in the literature in which horror scenes are implanted in the mind of the percipient? We have already accepted that "the Abuser" can make people see what he wants them to see, why can't the whole abduction scene be implanted? One can answer that the signs of physical abuse are not explained by this scenario. But if the abused is being tricked by the abuser then there is no way to tell what is going on anyway!
Is it not possible that "the Abuser" in the abduction reports is in some other shape than man (or in no shape at all!) and imposes control on the mind of the abductee for his own purposes? Regardless of the genetic implications of the stories told by abductees on the basis of the fact that the whole scenario is in the intelligence mode I strongly suspect that it involves something else altogether than human genetics. Whatever the case the Abuser knows the human preponderance with sexuality.
If "the Abuser" really has the power to fool the human mind that he appears to have, it seems entirely possible that much of the phenomena described in abductions can be explained on this basis.

[A] Commonly Believed
The Extraterrestrial Hypothesis [ETH] has seemed to have developed a "mythological / folklore" in this regards even though no DNA or other testable evidence has ever been presented to prove or at least provide an actual scientific basis for this belief.

[B] "SETI" is based upon the anthropomorphic idea
Carl Sagan put forth the idea that our home planet Earth and our star Sol are "unexceptional" in the over all scheme of the universe [1]. The logical presumption from this is that if our solar system is "typical" then there is a likelihood that there are other planets with intelligence similar to ours. My father is pointing out that this view is "human-centeric" and may or may not actually be the case. As of this writing this commentary in August o2014, 1800 extra solar planets have been discovered and we live on the only earth-like planet found.[2] This does not preclude the discovery of another earth-like planet but it does indicate they are rare.

[C] The Likelihood of Life in the universe
The popular notion, put forward in the early 1960s by Carl Sagan and Frank Drake is that the likelihood of their being intelligent life in the universe besides humankind is reflected in the "Drake Equation" N = R* x fp x ne x fl x fi x fc x L [1][2]. The problem with the Drake equation is that there exists only one data point at this time: Earth itself. It has been said you cannot extrapolate from a single data point. Salisbury takes the position, contrary to the popular notion of "little grey men" that there are no other humanlike beings simply because evolution regardless where it takes place is unique to the environment in which it occurs.

[D] "The Weird Magic Powers of Aliens".
While the subject of Abduction seems passe in some circles, one of the things that is repeated over and over again in "abductee reports" is the simply "magical way" in which the Aliens manipulate, control, and display their power over their victims. Typically this is explained by the claim that the "aliens" have advance technology yet the actual technology is never actually examined or addressed. Isn't it more likely, if the abduction is "real", that the Abductor / Abuser is actually manipulating the sensory apparatus and/or the metal processes of the abductee so that they perceive that 'magical things are happening" when something else is happening?
[E] The Trickster
Setting aside whether "abductions" have actually taken place as described in various media accounts and books,I disagree with my father's assessment that "The Trickster" is the archetype which best describes the actions and intentions of the intelligence behind the abuse of the humans they prey upon.
In the Dictionary of World Myth [1] the Trickster is defined as "worldwide" archetypal character who principle characteristics are "cunning, quick wit, and a propensity for mischievous or humorous behavior". "The Trickster breaks the rules of the gods or nature, sometimes maliciously (for example, Loki) but usually with ultimately positive effects (though the trickster's initial intentions may have been either positive or negative). Often, the bending/breaking of rules takes the form of tricks or thievery. Tricksters can be cunning or foolish or both; they are often funny even when considered sacred or performing important cultural tasks" [2]. Many of the deeds of the Trickster have been beneficial to humankind. While it is true that Coyote [3] was known for playing tricks or behving badly in some of the stories in which he appears he also is a bringer of change and is the hero who "defeats the thunderbird".
In the instance of abductions which have been reported, the actions of the "Intelligence" responsible can be seen as ethically malevolent, deceptive, and / or careless in the treatment of those whom they hold. A more correct archtype for such behavior of this "Intelligence" is not the Trickster but rather "the Devil" [4] or possibly Setekh (Set), the Egyptian God of the desert, storms, disorder, violence and foreigners.[5] Setekh murdered his brother Ausar (Osiris) and dismembered him to prevent his resurrection, and Setekh then abused his nephew (Horus) to prevent his taking the throne.
